Training & Education Overview
Training and public education have been vital core functions of the ACO since its inception in 1968. We currently have training programs in medical orgonomy and social orgonomy and a variety of public education programs.
The ACO is the only organization in the world that has an active comprehensive, in-depth Medical Orgonomy Training Program. For over 40 years we have been training physicians in orgone therapy in its basic form as developed by Dr. Wilhelm Reich. Our “Advanced Technical Seminar” is, in fact, historically a direct continuation of the “technical seminar” of the Vienna Psychoanalytic Society run by Wilhelm Reich starting in 1924 in which he developed character analysis.
In 2001 we instituted the Social Orgonomy Training Program to offer training in the application of orgonomic principles within the social realm to clinically oriented practitioners in fields such as psychology, social work, nursing, marital and family therapy, or organizational development, as well as to others who are not engaged in providing therapy but may apply the knowledge of social orgonomy in a wide range of fields such as those who work as teachers, administrators, politicians, writers, businesspeople, attorneys, managers, etc.
The cornerstone requirement of all of our training is that the trainees need to be in personal training therapy. We believe that it is not possible as a medical orgonomist to help someone with their emotions unless the therapist has overcome problems he or she has that would interfere with tolerating the emotions that come up in the patient in a therapy session. Likewise anyone working with relationships in the social realm must have addressed problems in making contact in order to help others improve their capacity for contact.
social orgonomy presentation serieson a wide variety of subjects ranging from the bioenergetic principles of love, family, and work relationships to various aspects of human destructiveness and the emotional plague, as well as from communication confusion in our electronic age to the impact of mother-infant bonding and our ability to love. We also offer a Laboratory Workshops in Orgonomic Science open to the public.
